I had been walking in the park that runs next to my home. There are so many beautiful Australian native trees growing there and the pathway and surrounding ground was littered in Eucalyptus leaves. In a strange way you don’t really see them because they are in such abundance; part of the landscape. But then I stopped and looked properly. They were in fact quite beautiful in their various stages of decay.
I gathered a few together and brought them home. What appealed to me most was their beautiful simplistic shape. It was that which gave me the inspiration for this small, mixed media watercolour experiment. I feel as if I have captured something of the leaves’ magical essence. This is a theme I would like to explore further on a larger scale in future.
